FAQ's on Walkies

Where are your dog walkers located?

We’re currently only available in Torfaen and Newport (South Wales), but we’re expanding further afield very soon. Interested in becoming a dog walker? Get in touch.

Will I get the same walker every time?

We will pair a single walker with your dog as much as possible.

There may be times in which a stand-in will be necessary due to sickness or annual leave, but we will never give the keys to your house to anyone else without your full approval.

In addition, there may come a time when your walker moves on or we have to make a change due to the logistical realities of scheduling – however, in these cases you will be informed in advance and will be given the option to meet and approve the new walker.

Are your walkers legal employees?

Yes, all Dog Furiendly partners are interviewed, given a full background (CRB) check, fully insured and are given First Aid and Dog Furiendly Training. We ensure they can work during our peak walking times to ensure that you have consistent dog walkers.

We get to know all of our walkers personally and ensure they offer high standards of safety, responsibility and compassion.

Can I meet my walker beforehand?

Absolutely and this is something we encourage! We want you to feel 100% comfortable with the person who has access to your home and your dog. We always recommend a meet and greet beforehand to get acquainted and to discuss any quirks or issues your dog may have that we should know about.

How will I know my dog has been walked?

We use ‘Doggy Logs’ to give you GPS-stamped start and end times for your dog’s walk. It will also tell you if your dog went to the bathroom and if any problems or issues occurred during the walk. We will also attach photos and any other notes as necessary.

Can I meet my walker beforehand?

Absolutely and this is something we encourage! We’d like you to feel 100% comfortable with the person who has access to your home and your dog.

In addition, it’s also important for your dog to feel comfortable with whomever will be coming into your home when you’re not there! A meet and greet is an ideal opportunity for both you and your dog to acquaint themselves with your new walker, as well as to discuss any quirks or issues your dog may have that we should know about.

Will I have to give you a key?

We will have to keep a copy of your key. Walkers keep their keys secure and they will never be labeled with your address. We have a key tracking system so we always know at a glance who has your key should you need it back.

Do you offer training?

We are not a dog training service. However, if you are undergoing a program of training with your dog and would like us to reinforce the commands your dog is learning during their daily walks, we can certainly do that – just let us know!

How do I pay?

You can book online through our website. No need to log onto any new portal or download any apps. Just book and go!

Do you walk on bank holidays?

We take some holidays by default, but if you would like to schedule walks on these days then we have a surcharge of £5 (£15 on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day). The following holidays apply: Bank Holidays, New Year’s Day, Easter Monday and Christmas Day.

Do you offer any walks on evenings and weekends?

For weekend walks and/or walks past 6pm, add £5. Please note that while we strive to send the same walker for your dog each time, we cannot guarantee the same walker outside of your dog’s usual walking schedule.

Can you accommodate Last Minute Bookings?

We consider all dogs and walking schedules on a case by case basis, and if we can accommodate last minute or sporadic walking schedules at your ideal time then we certainly will oblige.

Can you feed my dog too?

Absolutely! As long as it’s as simple as putting some food out for your dog after the walk, we don’t mind feeding your dog at no additional charge. We will also make sure they have water when they come home.

What if my dog becomes sick?

When you book your first walk we will be in touch to get all of your relevant details (main vet, secondary vet etc). If for any reason we feel that your dog is sick to the point of needing professional medical attention, we will of course inform you immediately and take them to the vet.

We will always keep you informed, and ask your permission before going ahead with any medication as advised by the vet.

Can you give my puppy medicine?

We take all requests to administer medicine on a case by case basis. Usually if it’s just a case of giving your dog a pill or adding medicine to their food it’s very straightforward, however if your dog requires an injection then we will have to talk with you first to establish the best way of doing this without causing too much distress to your dog.
